Temperomandibular disorder (TMD) refers to a medical and dental condition in which pain and discomfort affect the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and/or the muscles and contiguous tissue components. The total number of TMD sufferers in this country can be roughly estimated at more than 10 million. Development of a Salubria™ TMJ disc replacement could potentially restore function to this joint.
